Ischgl

An Eldorado for alpine skiers

In a country known for its après ski Ischgl is a winter Ibiza. However this ski resort is no one-trick pony, Ischgl im Paznaun, in addition to Galtür, Kappl and See, is an Eldorado for skiing enthusiasts. There are top of the range cable car facilities and fabulous pistes, with the Ischgl/Samnaun Silvretta Arena being voted one of the top ten locations for Alpine skiing out of 176 resorts. Ischgl is aslos very big on boarding and is proud to be considered one of the pioneers of the art and was one of the first resorts in Europe to realise the potential and popularity of this sport.

Snowboarders will find one of the best terrain parks in Europe here, aptly named, "Boarders Paradise" with four areas and 30 obstacles. There are nursery slopes suitable for boarder beginners, and the lifts are boarder friendly, with the wide-open powder fields a snowboarders heaven after fresh snowfall. Ischgl's family-friendly slopes are perfect for the majority of skiers, while the grooming and snow-making are in a league of their own. Full lift and piste integration with neighbouring Samnaun over the border in Switzerland make the skiing truly extensive, and after a big fall of fresh snow, there's off piste skiing in every direction. Only tough on-piste challenges are missing.
