Seefeld is Europe's cross-country capital

Seefeld has got it all when it comes to great resort amenities for your ski holiday. You will find a great selection of hotels, a first class gaming casino, sophisticated and varied nightlife, world class cross country trails as well as a good choice of alpine and Nordic skiing activities. Seefeld has hosted the Olympic games not once but twice and has had a definite hand in the beginnings of downhill skiing since the 1930's. The Nordic Ski World Championships have been held here in 1985 and the Cross-Country Skiing World Cup twice, in 1999 and in 2006. Its great positioning in the heart of Europe, makes for easy access and a fantastic ski holiday for all winter lovers.

The Olympia Region Seefeld is made up of three ski areas. For beginners, there is the Geigenbühel area near the centre of the village, providing an ideal and gentle area to learn to ski. For intermediate skiers, the Gschwandtkopf area, near the Seekirchl, known as the 'lake chapel' is one of the landmarks of this village. Advanced skiers can head for the higher and longer runs on the Rosshütte and the Härmelekopf. A skibus serves the Rosshütte mountain railway, which is located on the edge of the eastern side of the village. For skiers who are willing to travel further afield, the local skipass covers the Zugspitz glacier in Germany, which is at an elevation of just under 3000 metres. For snowboarders Seefeld is a great place to learn. Head to Rosshütte where there is a snow park and halfpipe and you will also find international competitions in the Casino Arena. Riders who really want to strut their stuff should head to Mittenwald and do the drop down the Karwendel or go play on the Zugspitze. Guests can also explore the other resorts which are only 20 minutes away and are included in the lift ticket.

This Austrian purpose built resort was developed before modern architecture became fashionable and is designed with a laid back atmosphere with almost no through traffic and with a traditional town centre built specifically for holiday makers to meet, talk, have a coffee or drink, and enjoy the events on offer. The look is pure modern Alpine with lots of peaked roofs and wooden balconies, so late-night partying is not the norm in Seefeld.
