Bad Hofgastein
Gastein Valley is a true winter paradise
Situated about 50 Kilometres south of the provincial capital of Salzburg, at the heart of the rugged Gastein Valley, high in the Tauern Mountains, lies the historic resort of Bad Hofgastein. With many imperial connections, it presents fantastic skiing on a vast panoramic circuit, with the whole ski region, interlinking 200 kilometres of excellent ski slopes, and easily accessible directly from Bad Hofgastein. The village itself offers a central pedestrian area containing shops, cafes and restaurants and there is a good choice of leisure pursuits and evening entertainment. Bad Hofgastein prides itself with the impressive 'spa world' called the 'Alpen Therme'. What could be more soothing after a hard day's skiing than a perfect bath?
