Levi

Situated 170 kilometres north of the Arctic circle, Levi is Finland's most famous and largest downhill ski resort, that has hosted many a World Cup ski events and competitions. Levi's has a variety of runs to suite everyone, from easy slopes for beginners and medium to difficult slopes for the more experienced skiers. If you really want to put your skills to the test, then you can try the black World Cup run, which has a 52% steep and a final stretch that makes you think you are about to fly.
Once you arrive in Levi you realise that, for most people, skiing is not the only thing on their holiday agenda. Like the magical midwinter skies, the village centre offers a unique charm, with its streets lined with no less than 30 attractively lit restaurants and many entrances adorned with beautiful ice sculptures. Enjoy a complete winter experience and explore the beautiful countryside on a snowmobile, a husky sled ride or a reindeer safari or try your hand at snowshoeing, cross country skiing or ice fishing, visits to meet Santa, and a chance to see the magical Northern Lights. There is so much to do you won't ever get bored!
Levi also provides great facilities for the smallest of visitors. 'Kids Land' is an enchanting children area to the left of the main run. Here you'll find some gentle slopes and three free ski lifts where experienced instructors encourage the smallest skiers (5-6 years) during ski lessons. Outdoor games, activities and mini-races are also organised daily, however parents must be present, to ensure no one gets tired, and cosy wooden huts where hot drinks can be enjoyed are nestled amid the trees. Families are more than welcome to practice their new-found skills in this area free of charge too. For a small hourly fee, there is also a cosy, indoor crèche where nannies are available to look after non-skiing children from 0-11years.
Combine all this with a snowsure climate, pleasantly crowd-free slopes and stunning arctic scenery, and you can see why most visitors leave promising to come back for more great experiences!
