Saas Fee
A cracking all round ski resort with exceptional guareenteed powder
The winter snow sports area in the Saas Valley, has more than 100 kilometres of groomed pistes, offering something special for everyone including wide, smooth pistes for carvers, moguls pistes for experts, and flat pistes for beginners, and due to its high altitude with pistes up to 3600 metres above sea-level and the ski area on the glacier, you will find guaranteed skiing and snowboarding all year round.
There are 3 main lifts located at one end of the village, each accessing a different area of the mountain, called Platijen, Felskinn and Langfluh. For beginners the Saas-Fee area is a perfect learning ground and you will find the nursery slopes sitting conveniently at the edge of the village and skiers graduating to new heights can tackle the blue runs of Felskinn. Intermediates should get stuck into the great selection of blues and reds from wide cruising pistes to more of the steep powder around Langfluh and don't miss out on the thigh burn special from the top of Mittelalklin all the way back to the picturesque village. Advanced skiers who are after a bit of adventure will find plenty of black runs to test your skills on and a number of challenges across the mountain at the top of Felskinn and on the lower runs of Platijen. However, these runs may only occupy you for so long, so it may be worth your while to try the extensive touring that is on offer here for the ultimate in valley and peak discovery.
Snowboarders and freestyle skiers will find their own little paradise at the Snow Park at the Mittelallalin, which is groomed all year-round, and features a half-pipe, kickers and rails. You can also relax on a comfortable couch to the sound of good music in the 'Chill Zone'. Saas-Fee has got it covered in the après ski stakes and whether you want to party or enjoy a more relaxed vibe, then you will find it on offer here. For that well earned après ski drink, it is suggested you try Nesti's bar, The Black Bull, or Popcorn, which is considered to be a mecca for snowboarders wishing to relive their big air, or the crazy night disco for your late night mischiefs. So with its exceptional snow record and scenery to die for, Saas Fee has a lot on offer for budding snow hunters and should not be missed.
