Zell am See
An exciting and lively skiers winter paradise
This charming little lake side town offers a great variety of skiing at all levels. Its traffic-free old medieval pedestrian centre offers excellent shopping and an abundance of evening entertainment with colourful cafés, wine bars and restaurants. The resort lies in the heart of the famous 'Europa Sport' region, which also includes Kaprun with direct access to the 3000 metre Kitzsteinhorn glacier. This is accessed by a ski bus which runs every 20 minutes in high season, and once an hour during low season periods. The journey is about 30 minutes and the service is free to lift pass holders.
With its multitude of options including groomed trails, World Cup downhills, off-track runs, and glaciers, Zell Am See offers the complete Alps ski experience. Snowboarders will also find a half-pipe and fun park at the top of Schmittenhoehe and also at the top of the Kitzsteinhorn. Other resort attractions include the sports centre with pool; ice-skating; bowling; excursions; and panorama flights, as well as the Kaprun Optimum Sports centre with indoor pool and fitness; small skating rink; indoor tennis, bowling and cross country skiing with floodlit tracks.
